Job Overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of mechanical systems and components for mining equipment. You will be involved in every phase of the design process, from concept through to production, ensuring that all designs meet industry standards and can withstand the extreme conditions encountered in mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and components for mining equipment (e.g., conveyors, crushers, haul trucks, etc.)
.Produce detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
.Conduct stress and fatigue analysis, ensuring designs meet durability and safety requirements
.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, and project engineers, to integrate mechanical designs into larger systems
.Evaluate existing equipment and propose design modifications to improve performance, reduce costs, and extend service life
.Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to source components and materials
.Conduct field assessments and provide technical support during equipment installation and commissioning
.Maintain thorough documentation of design processes, calculations, and modifications
.Stay updated on industry standards, safety regulations, and emerging technologies relevant to the mining industry.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
.Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)
.Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
.Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and other simulation tools
.Ability to work in high-pressure environments and handle multiple projects simultaneously
.Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions.Strong communication and teamwork abilities
